Examiners to investigate certain applicants and to
license qualified applicants as social workers.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Sections 840, 841, 842, 843, 844, 845,
846, 847, 848, 849, 850 and 851 to be under the new
subtitle "Social Workers" be and they are hereby added to
Article 43 — Health, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1971 Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement) to read as
follows:

(A) THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY FINDS THAT THE PROFESSION
OF SOCIAL WORK PROFOUNDLY AFFECTS THE LIVES OF THE PEOPLE
OF THIS STATE. IT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS SUBTITLE TO
PROTECT THE PUBLIC BY SETTING STANDARDS OF
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE FOR
THOSE WHO SEEK TO ENGAGE IN THE PRACTICE OF SOCIAL WORK
AND BY PROMOTING HIGH STANDARDS OF PROFESSIONAL
PERFORMANCES FOR THOSE ENGAGED IN THE PROFESSION OF
