Trustees of the Enoch Pratt Free Library and the
Committee for the Peabody Department shall have until
June 1, 1977, to present evidence satisfactory to the
Board of Public Works that it has raised at least this
equal and matching fund for the purpose of aiding in the
design and construction of a climatic and humidity
control system for the George Peabody Branch of the Enoch
Pratt Free Library, including the payment of architects'
and engineers' fees; and further to aid in the purchase
and installation of climatic and humidity control
equipment for the George Peabody Branch of the Enoch
Pratt Free Library; and further to provide for the repair
and rehabilitation of books, maps, documents and other
materials contained in the collection of the Peabody
Department of the Enoch Pratt Central Library. Upon
receiving from the Board of Public Works a certification
of such suitable evidence on or before June 1, 1977, the
Treasurer of the State is hereby authorized, empowered
and directed to proceed to spend the proceeds of said
loan in accordance with the other provisions of this Act.
If such satisfactory evidence of the raising of at least
an equal and matching fund for this project is not
presented to the Board of Public Works on or before June
1, 1977, no funds under the provisions of this Act shall
thereafter be paid over to or expended for the purpose of
aiding in the design and construction of a climatic and
humidity control system for the George Peabody Branch of
the Enoch Pratt Free Library; including the payment of
architects' and engineers' fees; and further to aid in
the purchase and installation of climatic and humidity
control equipment for the George Peabody Branch of the
Enoch Pratt Free Library; and further to provide for the
repair and rehabilitation of books, maps, documents and
other materials contained in the collection of the
Peabody Department of the Enoch Pratt Central Library.]]
SECTION 7. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That prior to
the payment of any funds under the provisions of this Act
for the purposes set forth in Section 5(2) above the
Board of Trustees of the Enoch Pratt Free Library and the
Committee for the Peabody Department shall provide at
least an equal and matching fund of $300,000 for this
project from private and other public sources. The said
Board of Trustees of the Enoch Pratt Free Library and the
Committee for the Peabody Department shall have until
June 1, 1977, to present evidence satisfactory to the
Board of Public Works that they have raised such an equal
and matching fund. Upon receiving from the Board of
Public Works a certification of such suitable evidence on
or before June 1, 1977, the Treasurer of the State is
hereby authorized, empowered and directed to proceed to
spend the proceeds of said loan in accordance with the
