of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement
Volume and 1974 Supplement) be and there are hereby
repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

Article 41 — Governor — Executive and Administrative

Departments

410.

This subtitle may be cited as "The [Greater
Baltimore Consolidated] MARYLAND Wholesale Food [Market]
Authority Act."

412.

(a) A body corporate and politic, to be known as "The
[Greater Baltimore Consolidated] MARYLAND Wholesale Food
[Market] CENTER Authority" is created to be an
instrumentality of the State of Maryland and a public
corporation by that name, style and title. It may
contract and be contracted with, sue and be sued, implead
and be impleaded, and complain and defend in all courts
of law and equity.

(b) The Authority [shall consist] CONSIST of [ten]
12 members, all of whom shall be citizens of the State
[of Maryland], one of whom shall be a resident of Howard
County, and three of whom shall be members of the New
Marsh Wholesale Produce Market Authority, as the same was
created by Chapter 662 of the Laws of Maryland of 1955,
as amended by Chapter 845 of the Laws of Maryland of
1957. The Director of Agricultural Extension, State of
Maryland [and], the Comptroller of the State, THE
SECRETARY OF AGRICULTURE, AND THE SECRETARY OF GENERAL
SERVICES shall be ex officio members, and the tenure of
their office shall coincide with the terms for which they
hold the designated offices. In the event of a vacancy
in any of the ex officio officers, the seat on the
Authority is to be taken by the interim or permanent
successor.

The Governor of the State of Maryland, with the
advice and consent of the Senate, within [thirty (30)] 30
days after June 1, 1967, shall appoint five members who
shall be outstanding citizens of the State [of Maryland].
The original appointments of those five members,
excluding the ex officio members, shall be made in such
manner that the term of one member shall expire on July
1, 1968, the term of another member shall expire on July
1, 1969, the term of another member shall expire on July
1, 1970, the term of another member shall expire on July
1, 1971, and the term of the remaining member shall
expire on July 1, 1972. In addition, the Governor, with
