COLLEGE. IN THE SECOND TERM OF STUDENT MEMBERSHIP THE
[[STUDENTS]] STUDENT SHALL BE CHOSEN FROM THE [[THIRD AND
FOURTH]] SECOND CHARTERED STATE COLLEGE. IN THE THIRD
TERM OF STUDENT MEMBERSHIP THE [[STUDENTS]] STUDENT SHALL
BE CHOSEN FROM THE [[FIFTH AND SIXTH]] THIRD CHARTERED
STATE COLLEGE. THIS SYSTEM OF ROTATION SHALL CONTINUE
UNTIL ALL STATE COLLEGES HAVE BEEN REPRESENTED. WHEN ALL
STATE COLLEGES HAVE BEEN REPRESENTED, THE ROTATION SYSTEM
SHALL BE REPEATED.
(c) Of the 8 NON—STUDENT appointive members of the
board, one shall held office until the first Monday of
June, 1965, and the others shall hold office until the
first Monday of June, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971,
and 1972, respectively; and, as the term of a member
expires, his successor shall be appointed for a term of 9
years from the first Monday of June in the year of his
appointment. Each member shall serve until his successor
qualifies. In case of any vacancy, the Governor shall
appoint a successor for the unexpired term. The members
of the board of trustees shall be appointed solely
because of their character and fitness, their interest in
the cause of public higher education, and their knowledge
of its problems; but no member, EXCEPT THE STUDENT
[[MEMBERS]] MEMBER, shall be appointed to the Board who
is in any way subject to its authority. NON—STUDENT
members of the board shall be eligible for reappointment.
Among the initial appointees the Governor shall include
one member of the State Board of Education. THE STUDENT
[[MEMBERS]] MEMBER OF THE BOARD SHALL BE APPOINTED AS SET
FORTH ABOVE. IN ADDITION, THE [[TWO STUDENTS]] STUDENT
SHALL BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER; SHALL BE IN GOOD
ACADEMIC STANDING AND SHALL BE A FULL-TIME
[[UNDERGRADUATES]] UNDERGRADUATE..
(d) The members of the board shall serve without
compensation but they shall be paid their reasonable and
necessary expenses while engaged in the discharge of
their official duties.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1975.
