MARYLAND RESIDENTS AND WHO WERE DOMICILED IN MARYLAND
IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO INDUCTION INTO THE ARMED FORCES AND
WHO WERE DECLARED BY THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF
DEFENSE TO BE PRISONERS OF WAR AS A RESULT OF UNITED
STATES PARTICIPATION IN ARMED CONFLICT IN SOUTHEAST ASIA
ON OR AFTER JANUARY 1, 1960. UPON QUALIFICATION FOR THIS
PROGRAM, A PERSON SHALL BE ENTITLED TO ATTEND, FULL OR
PART-TIME FREE OF CHARGE FOR THE PURPOSE OF TUITION AND
MANDATORY FEES, THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND, ST. MARY'S
COLLEGE, ANY STATE COLLEGE, OR ANY COMMUNITY COLLEGE
WITHIN THE STATE. ONCE ACCEPTED BY AN ELIGIBLE
INSTITUTION AND APPOINTED TO THE SCHOLARSHIP, THE
RECIPIENT MAY HOLD THE SCHOLARSHIP SUBJECT TO THE
FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:

(1)     ALL FULL-TIME STUDENTS MUST BE ENROLLED
FOR A MINIMUM OF TWELVE SEMESTER HOURS, OR AN EQUIVALENT
THEREOF, PER SEMESTER IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE SCHOLARSHIP
FOR A PERIOD OF UP TO FOUR YEARS.

(2)     ALL PART-TIME STUDENTS MUST BE ENROLLED
FOR A MINIMUM OF SIX SEMESTER HOURS, OR AN EQUIVALENT
THEREOF, PER SEMESTER IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE SCHOLARSHIP
FOR A PERIOD OF UP TO EIGHT YEARS.

THE MAXIMUM ENTITLEMENT UNDER THIS SECTION SHALL BE
FOR A PERIOD OF NOT MORE THAN FOUR YEARS OF FULL-TIME
STUDY OR FOR A PERIOD OF NOT MORE THAN EIGHT YEARS OF
PART-TIME STUDY BEGINNING FROM THE TIME OF INITIAL SCHOOL
ENROLLMENT, AND SHALL APPLY TO UNDERGRADUATE [[AND
GRADUATE]] COURSES OF STUDY.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, [[1976]]1975.
