LAWS OF MARYLAND

[Ch. 591

THAN ONE) ADDITIONAL LIST OF FIVE QUALIFIED CANDIDATES
FOR ANY VACANCY SHALL BE SIMILARLY SUBMITTED AND THE
GOVERNOR SHALL MAKE HIS APPOINTMENT FROM EITHER THE
ORIGINAL LIST OR THE ADDITIONAL LIST.

(C) MEMBERS OF THE BOARD HOLDING OFFICE ON JULY 1,
1975, SHALL SERVE THE BALANCE OF THE TERMS FOR WHICH THEY
WERE APPOINTED. IN IMPLEMENTATION OF SUBSECTION (A) ,
ADDITIONAL APPOINTMENTS TO THE BOARD SHALL BE MADE AS
FOLLOWS:

(I) AS OF JULY 1, 1975, THREE REGISTERED
NURSE MEMBERS: ONE FOR A TERM ENDING JUNE 30, 1977 AND
TWO FOR TERMS ENDING JUNE 30, 1978.

[[(II) AS OF JULY 1, 1975, TWO CONSUMER
MEMBERS: ONE FOR A TERM ENDING JUNE 30, 1977 AND ONE FOR
A TERM ENDING JUNE 30, 1978.3]

[[(III)]] (II) AS OF JULY 1, 1975, THREE
LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE MEMBERS: TWO FOR A TERM ENDING
JUNE 30, 1976; AND ONE FOR A TERM ENDING JUNE 30, 1978.

(D)   EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN SUBSECTION (C), THE TERMS
OF OFFICE FOR MEMBERS OF THE BOARD SHALL BE THREE YEARS.
EACH BOARD MEMBER SHALL SERVE UNTIL HIS SUCCESSOR IS
APPOINTED AND QUALIFIED. NO MEMBER MAY BE APPOINTED FOR
MORE THAN THREE CONSECUTIVE THREE-YEAR TERMS. VACANCY IN
A BOARD MEMBERSHIP SHALL BE FILLED FOR THE UNEXPIRED
PORTION OF A TERM IN THE SAME MANNER AS FOR A FULL TERM.

(E)   AFTER NOTICE AND AN OPPORTUNITY FOR HEARING AND
WITH THE ADVICE OF THE SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND MENTAL
HYGIENE, THE GOVERNOR MAY REMOVE ANY MEMBER FROM THE
BOARD FOR NEGLECT OF ANY DUTY REQUIRED BY LAW OR FOR
INCOMPETENCY OR UNPROFESSIONAL OR DISHONORABLE CONDUCT.

293.

(A) EACH MEMBER OF THE BOARD SHALL:

(1)    BE A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES AND A
RESIDENT OF MARYLAND;

(2)    TAKE AND FILE WITH THE PROPER STATE
AUTHORITY THE OATH PRESCRIBED BY ARTICLE 1, SECTION 6 OF
THE MARYLAND CONSTITUTION BEFORE BEGINNING THE MEMBER'S
TERM OF OFFICE;

(B) EACH NURSE MEMBER OF THE BOARD SHALL:

[[(3)]] (1) BE LICENSED UNDER THIS SUBTITLE;

[[(4)]] (2) HAVE HAD AT LEAST FIVE YEARS'
