SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 77A of Article 41 - Governor -
Executive and Administrative Departments, of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and
1974 Supplement) be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

77A.

The Governor of Maryland is authorized to appoint a
citizen of this State who shall be designated as Poet
Laureate of Maryland, and who shall serve without
compensation, except that he may be reimbursed from the
contingent fund of the Board of Public Works for any
expenses incurred in performance of his duties[, provided
that the total amount reimbursed in any fiscal year shall
not exceed five hundred dollars ($500) ], PROVIDED THAT
THE TOTAL AMOUNT REIMBURSED IN ANY FISCAL YEAR DOES NOT
EXCEED $1.000.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1975.
