BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments,

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

Section 1-603(b)

Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 3-801 through 3-842, being all of
Subtitle 8 of Title 3 of Article - Courts and Judicial
Proceedings, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1974
Volume and 1974 Supplement) be and they are hereby
repealed.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Sections
4-501 through 4-530, being all of Subtitle 5 of Title 4
of Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings, of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1974 Volume and 1974
Supplement) be and they are hereby repealed.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That new
Sections 3-801 through [[3-831]] 3-833 to be under new
subtitle 8 of Title 3, entitled "Juvenile Causes" be and
they are hereby added to Article — Courts and Judicial
Proceedings, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1974
Volume and 1974 Supplement) to read as follows:

SUBTITLE 8. JUVENILE CAUSES

3-801. DEFINITIONS

(A) IN THIS SUBTITLE, THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE
[[MEANS]] MEANINGS INDICATED, UNLESS THE CONTEXT OF THEIR
USE INDICATES OTHERWISE:

(B) "ADULT" MEANS A PERSON WHO IS 18 YEARS OLD OR
OLDER.

(C)    "CHILD" MEANS A PERSON UNDER THE AGE OF 18
YEARS.

(D)      "CHILD IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE" IS A CHILD WHO
NEEDS THE ASSISTANCE OF THE COURT BECAUSE

(1) HE IS MENTALLY HANDICAPPED OR IS NOT
RECEIVING ORDINARY AND PROPER CARE AND ATTENTION, AND
