EACH YEAR. They shall serve without compensation EXCEPT
FOR THE CHAIRMAN, WHO SHALL BE PAID $600 PER YEAR. The
commission shall select from its own membership a
chairman, AND vice—chairman[, and a secretary—treasurer]
to serve a term of one year and to be eligible for
re—election, [provided that no one] ONE person [shall]
MAY NOT hold the position of chairman for more than three
consecutive terms. Upon the death, disability,
resignation, or removal of any member of the commission,
the county commissioners shall appoint a person
[representing the same categoric interest] WITHIN 60 DAYS
to serve for the unexpired term. [The president] A
MEMBER of the board of county commissioners, AS
DETERMINED BY THE BOARD, shall serve as an ex officio
member of the Economic Development Commission without the
power to vote. The commission has the power to establish
and appoint advisory groups and committees to assist in
its program of activity of which membership is not
restricted solely to members of the commission.
(d) The commission shall meet monthly and shall
hold special meetings at the call of the chairman or [of
any three members] A MAJORITY OF THE MEMBERS of the
commission. The commission shall adopt [such] rules and
regulations as it may deem necessary to govern its
procedure and business. Five members [shall] constitute
a quorum.
(e) The commission shall [appoint from without its
membership a person as director of the commission, who
shall serve without compensation but shall be reimbursed
for necessary expenses incurred by him in the performance
of those duties delegated to him by the commission]
RECOMMEND EMPLOYEES AND CONSULTANTS AS FROM TIME TO TIME
THE COMMISSION CONSIDERS NECESSARY TO CARRY OUT THIS
SUBTITLE.
(f) The County Commissioners [shall have the power
to] MAY appropriate [such] funds which they deem adequate
and necessary for the expenses AND SALARIES [of the
Director] of the Commission[,] for promotional work[,]
and for the payment of vouchers and bills approved by the
Commission. [or the Director, as the case may be, but in

the County Commissioners.
(g) [Quarterly reports and financial statements
shall be made and filed with the board of county
commissioners of St. Mary's County and made available to
the public. The reports shall include subjects and
recommendations for the improvement and advancement of
the economic welfare of the people of the county as well
as an account of the financial transactions of the
