AN ACT concerning

Workmen's Compensation — Discharge of Employees

FOR the purpose of providing that certain employees may
not be discharged from employment for a certain
reason; and providing a certain penalty.

BY adding to

Article 101 — Workmen's Compensation

Section 39A

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1964 Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 39A be and it is hereby added
to Article 101 — Workmen's Compensation, of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume and 1974
Supplement) to read as follows:

Article 101 — Workmen's Compensation

39A.

(A)    AN EMPLOYEE ENTITLED TO BENEFITS UNDER THIS
ARTICLE MAY NOT BE DISCHARGED FROM EMPLOYMENT SOLELY
BECAUSE HE FILES A CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION UNDER THIS
ARTICLE.

(B)    ANY PERSON VIOLATING THIS SECTION IS GUILTY OF
A MISDEMEANOR AND, UPON CONVICTION, SHALL BE FINED NOT
MORE THAN $500 OR IMPRISONED NOT MORE THAN 12 MONTHS, OR
BOTH, IN THE DISCRETION OF THE COURT.
