[Ch. 330

time of [his] retirement; and

(b)     A pension of sixty—six and two—thirds
[per centum] PERCENT of his OR HER average final
compensation, but in no event shall his OF HER total
special disability retirement allowance exceed his OR HER
average final compensation.

(c)    Upon the death of a member retired on a
special disability retirement allowance, one half of the
allowance calculated above shall be continued to [his
widow, if he leaves a widow, to continue during her
widowhood; or if there be no widow,] THE MEMBER'S
SURVIVING SPOUSE, AS LONG AS THE SURVIVING SPOUSE REMAINS
UNMARRIED. IF THERE IS NO SURVIVING SPOUSE or if the
[widow] SURVIVING SPOUSE dies or remarries before the
youngest child of [such] THE deceased retired member
[shall have] HAS attained the age of 18, then to [his] OR
HER child or children under [said age if he] 18 IF HE OR
SHE leaves children, divided in such manner as the board
in its discretion [shall determine] DETERMINES to
continue, as a joint and survivorship pension for the
benefit of the child or children under [said age] 18
until every child dies or attains [said age] THE AGE OF
18.

(7) (a) Once each year during the first five
years following the retirement of a member on a
disability retirement allowance, and once in every
three—year period thereafter, the board of trustees may,
and upon his application shall, require any disability
beneficiary who has not yet attained the age of 50 to
undergo a medical examination, [such] THE examination to
be made at the place of residence of [such] THE
beneficiary or other place mutually agreed upon, by the
medical board. [Should] IF any disability beneficiary
who has not yet attained the age of 50 [refuse] REFUSES
to submit to [such] THE medical examination, his OR HER
allowance may be discontinued until [his] withdrawal of
[such] THE refusal, and should [his] THE refusal continue
for one year, all [his] THE rights in and to [his] THE
pension may be revoked by the board of trustees.

(b) [Should] IF the medical board [report
and certify] REPORTS AND CERTIFIES to the board of
trustees that any disability beneficiary is engaged in or
is able to engage in a gainful occupation paying more
than the difference between his OR HER retirement
allowance and his OR HER average final compensation and
[should] IF the board of trustees [concur in such]
CONCURS IN THE report, then the amount of [his] THE
pension shall be reduced to an amount which, together
with his OR HER annuity and the amount earnable by him OF
HER, shall equal the amount of his OR HER average final
