resident therein, as [shall be] ARE regularly enlisted
therein, including the National Guard, the State Guard
and the reserve militia (Minute Men). A military office
for which no salary is provided in the budget [shall not
be considered] IS NOT an office of profit.

The unorganized militia [shall consist] CONSISTS of
all those liable to serve but not regularly enlisted.

24.

Any able—bodied [male who is a] citizen of the
State, or ANY ABLE-BODIED PERSON WHO has declared [his]
AN intention to become a citizen of the State, AND IS of
good character and temperate habits, may be enlisted in
the organized militia of this State as provided in this
article and the National Defense Act and regulations made
in pursuance thereof.

It [shall be] IS unlawful for any person to misstate
his OR HER age for the purpose of securing enlistment in
the organized militia of this State. It [shall be] IS
unlawful for any person to enlist in two military
organizations at the same time. Any person violating
provisions of this section [shall be] IS guilty of
fraudulent enlistment.

62.

Whenever any part of the National Guard of this
State is in active federal service, the Governor [is
hereby authorized to] MAY organize and maintain within
this State during [such] THAT period, under such
regulations as the [Secretary of War] SECRETARY OF THE
ARMY may prescribe for the organization, standards of
training, instruction and discipline, such military
forces as the Governor [may deem] DEEMS necessary[; and
the], THE Governor [is authorized to] MAY reduce the
number of or disband such forces at any time he deems
proper. [Such] THOSE forces shall be composed of
officers, commissioned or assigned, and such able—bodied
[male] citizens of the State, and able—bodied [males]
PERSONS of foreign birth who have declared their
intentions to become citizens, resident in the State, fas
shall] WHO volunteer for service therein,
[Such] THOSE forces [shall be] ARE additional to and
distinct from the National Guard, and shall be known as
the "Maryland State Guard." [Such] THOSE forces shall be
uniformed as the Governor may prescribe.]]

SECTION [[6]] 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That
Section 2 of Article 84 — Seamen, of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement)
