INTERNATIONAL AREA. THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SUBTITLE
RELATING TO THE RECOGNITION AND ENFORCEMENT OF CUSTODY
DECREES OF OTHER STATES APPLY TO CUSTODY DECREES AND
DECREES INVOLVING LEGAL INSTITUTIONS SIMILAR IN NATURE TO
CUSTODY INSTITUTIONS RENDERED BY APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES
OF OTHER NATIONS IF REASONABLE NOTICE AND OPPORTUNITY TO
BE HEARD WERE GIVEN TO ALL AFFECTED PERSONS.

UPON THE REQUEST OF A PARTY TO A CUSTODY PROCEEDING
WHICH RAISES A QUESTION OF EXISTENCE OR EXERCISE OF
JURISDICTION UNDER THIS SUBTITLE, THE CASE SHALL BE GIVEN
CALENDAR PRIORITY AND HANDLED EXPEDITIOUSLY.

THIS SUBTITLE MAY BE CITED AS THE UNIFORM CHILD
CUSTODY JURISDICTION ACT.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That if any
provision of this Act or the application thereof to any
person or circumstance is held invalid for any reason,
the invalidity shall not affect the other provisions or
any other application of this Act which can be given
effect without the invalid provisions or application, and
to this end all the provisions of this Act are declared
to be severable.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1975.
