of jails by the grand jury; and clarifying language.

BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments,

Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments

Section 703 1/2

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1971 Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 703 1/2 of Article 27 - Crimes and
Punishments, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971
Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments

7 03 1/2.

The grand jury shall [at each term of the court] AT
LEAST ONCE EACH CALENDAR YEAR visit the jail and inquire
into its condition, the manner in which it is kept and
the treatment of the prisoners, and report [the same]
THEIR FINDINGS to the court.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1975.

Anne Arundel County — Serving Alcoholic Beverages

FOR the purpose of permitting in Anne Arundel County
people over a certain age to serve alcoholic
beverages, but not to act as bartenders or barmaids;
