AN ACT concerning

Local Departments of Social Services — Technical

Corrections

FOR the purpose of correcting a certain error in the laws
relating to local departments of social services.

BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments,

Article 88A — Social Services Administration

Section 13(a)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1969 Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 13(a) of Article 88A - Social
Services Administration, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement) be
and it is hereby repealed and re—enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

Article 88A — Social Services Administration

(a) The State Department shall create or continue
in each county a local department of social services to
be known as such with the name of the county prefixed
thereto. In each county such local department shall have
a local board appointed in accordance with the provisions
of § 14 of this article and a local director appointed in
accordance with subsection (b) (1) of this section.

In Baltimore City the department of social services
shall have a commission of social services (herein
referred to as "local commission") appointed in
accordance with the provisions of § 48 (d) of Article VII
of the Charter of Baltimore City, 1964 Edition, and the
local director of the local department in Baltimore City
shall be appointed in accordance with the provisions of
subsection [b (2)] (B) (2) of this section.

The local boards in the counties and the local
commission in Baltimore City shall have all the duties
and functions provided in § 14A of this article.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1975.
