AN ACT concerning

St. Mary's County - Service Charges

For the purpose of making a change in terminology in the
local laws of St. Mary's County; providing for
monthly charges for certain services in St. Mary's
County; providing for late charges; making
provisions generally relating to those service
charges; and clarifying language.

BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments,

The Public Local Laws of St. Mary's County
Section 169

Article 19 — Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1965 Edition and 1974 Supplement, as amended)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 169 of the Public Local Laws of
St. Mary's County being Article 19 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1965 Edition and 1974 Supplement,
as amended) be and it is hereby repealed and re—enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

Article 19

169.

For the purpose of providing funds for maintenance,
repairing and operating its water supply, sewerage or
drainage systems, and for its operation and other
expenses, including proper depreciation allowances, and
for interest on, and the retirement of bonds as specified
in this subtitle, the Commission is hereby empowered to
make a ready—to—serve charge on water and a charge for
the upkeep of sewers chargeable against all properties
having a connection with any water pipe or sewer pipe
under its supervision or ownership. [Said] THE rate for
both ready—to—serve and [such] THE charge for the upkeep
on severs shall be uniform throughout [such] THE sanitary
district, subject to [such] THE changes THAT from time to
time [as] may be necessary. The Commission shall have
the right to collect in advance of water or sewerage
service a reasonable deposit. The charge for the upkeep
on sewers shall be reasonable and payable in the same
manner as [benefit] DEBT SERVICE assessments and shall be
a first lien against all property having a connection
with any sewer pipe under its supervision or ownership.
The rates for water service shall consist of a minimum or
ready-to-serve charge, which shall be based upon the size
of the meter on the water connection leading to the
property, and of a charge for water used, which shall be
