FOR the purpose of increasing fees for certain commercial
net fishing licenses; [[providing a new]] repealing
the maximum for the total quantity of certain
commercial net fish licenses issued; providing for a
minimum yardage of commercial gill net fishing
licenses; providing for a special commercial fishing
net license for ocean fishing; and clarifying
language.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 4-704(c) [[and (d)]] of Article -
Natural Resources, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1974 Volume and 1974 Supplement) be and they are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

4-704.
(c) The fee for commercial license to catch fish
is:
(1) Fyke, hoop net, or pot, except eel pots.
— 50 cents for each fyke or hoop net, plus 50 cents for
each 10 yards of lead or hedging used in connection with
it and $1 for any number of pots. Catfish pots licensed
under the provisions of this section may be fished in any
of the tidal waters of the state where commercial fishing
is not prohibited.
(2) Gill net. —[$5 for each 100 yards or
fraction thereof.] [[$20]] $50 MINIMUM FEE VALID FOR
AMOUNT OF YARDAGE AVAILABLE UP TO [[4003] 200 YARDS AND
$5 FOR EACH 100 YARDS OR FRACTION OF 100 YARDS IN EXCESS
OF [[400]] 200 YARDS. PERSONS 65 YEARS OF AGE AND OVER
ARE EXEMPT FROM PAYMENT OF THE LICENSE FEE FOR NO MORE
THAN 400 YARDS. PROVIDED THAT THESE NETS MAY BE FISHED BY
THE LICENSEE ONLY.
