hereby repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
Article 2B — Alcoholic Beverages
22.
A Class E beer, wine and liquor license shall be
issued by the Comptroller, subject to the conditions and
restrictions hereinafter set forth, and shall authorize
the owner or operator of any steamboat, steamship, ferry
boat or other vessel, used for the transportation FOR
HIRE of passengers, from ports in Maryland TO OTHER PORTS
IN MARYLAND OR to coastal ports in other states or
foreign ports, to sell all alcoholic beverages for
consumption thereon. One [such] license shall be issued
for each [such] steamboat, steamship, ferry boat, or
other vessel on which such beverages are sold [as
aforesaid,] and shall be good throughout this State.
The annual fee for [such] a license [shall be
seventy—five dollars ($75.00)] IS $75 per boat and shall
be payable to the Comptroller for the use of the State
before any [such] license is issued. No holder of any
[such] license shall be permitted to make any sale
thereunder while the licensed vessel is made fast to any
wharf or pier in any county where such sales are
prohibited by local law.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
[[shall take effect July 1, 1975.]] is hereby declared to
be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health and safety and having
been passed by a yea and nay vote supported by
three—fifths of all the members elected to each of the
two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
