(B) CONTENTS OF ACCOUNT.

THE ACCOUNT SHALL INCLUDE A REPORT OF EXPENSES
LISTING THE EMPLOYEES OF THE OFFICE. IT SHALL STATE THE
RATE OF COMPENSATION ALLOWED TO EACH EMPLOYEE, AND THE
DUTIES PERFORMED[[.]] BY HIM. EACH EMPLOYEE SHALL APPEND
A VERIFIED CERTIFICATE THAT THE DUTIES HAVE BEEN
PERFORMED BY HIM AND THAT HE HAS RECEIVED THE FULL SUM
CHARGED TO HIM AND THAT HE HAS NOT PAID, DEPOSITED,
ASSIGNED, OR CONTRACTED TO PAY, DEPOSIT, OR ASSIGN A PART
OF THE COMPENSATION TO A PERSON, NOR DIRECTLY OR
INDIRECTLY, PAID OR GIVEN OR CONTRACTED TO PAY OR GIVE A
REWARD OR COMPENSATION FOR HIS OFFICE OR EMPLOYMENT.

(C) EXCESS.

THE EXCESS OF FEES AND RECEIPTS OVER EXPENSES SHALL
BE DELIVERED BY THE REGISTER TO THE COMPTROLLER WITH EACH
REPORT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 93, §2-206. It is divided into three
subsections. The only changes are in language
and style.

2-208. POWERS AND DUTIES OF REGISTERS.

(A)   ADDITIONAL POWERS AND DUTIES.

IN ADDITION TO OTHER POWERS AND DUTIES PROVIDED FOR
IN THIS TITLE, EACH REGISTER HAS THE ADDITIONAL POWERS
AND DUTIES SPECIFIED IN THIS SECTION.

(B)   APPOINTMENT AND COMPENSATION OF DEPUTIES AND
CLERKS; AUTHORITY OF DEPUTIES.

HE SHALL APPOINT DEPUTIES AND CLERKS REQUIRED FOR
THE EFFICIENT OPERATION OF HIS OFFICE. APPOINTMENTS AND
COMPENSATION OF DEPUTIES AND CLERKS SHALL BE APPROVED BY
THE COMPTROLLER. WHEN QUALIFIED, EVERY DEPUTY SHALL HAVE
THE POWER AND AUTHORITY TO ACT IN THE PLACE OF THE
REGISTER AND EVERY ACT PERFORMED BY A DEPUTY SHALL HAVE
THE FORCE AND EFFECT AS IF [[THEY HAD BEEN]] PERFORMED BY
THE REGISTER.

(C)   REPOSITORY FOR ORIGINAL PAPERS AND RECORDS.

HE SHALL RECEIVE, FILE, AND STORE SAFELY EVERY
ORIGINAL PAPER AND RECORD LEFT IN HIS CUSTODY, IN A
REPOSITORY OF THE COURTHOUSE AS THE COURT MAY DIRECT.
THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, COUNTY COUNCIL, OR THE MAYOR
AND CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE SHALL PROVIDE AND KEEP IN
REPAIR THE REPOSITORY AT ITS EXPENSE.
