ONION BRIDGE

Volume, as amended) title "Corporations — Municipal",
sub—title "Home Rule" to amend the Charter of The Town of
Union Bridge (being Sections 638 to 706 inclusive of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Carroll County (1965
Edition, as amended) and being Article 7 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, amending Section 660
(sub-title "Voters") (being also Section 23 of the
Municipal Corporation Charter of The Town of Onion
Bridge) to provide that residents of The Town of Onion
Bridge at least eighteen (18) years of age may vote in
Town elections.

SECTION 1. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF ONION BRIDGE that the Charter of said
municipal corporation be and the same is hereby amended
by repealing Section 660 of said Charter and re—enacting
the same to read as follows:

660. Voters

Every person who (1) is a citizen of the United
States, (2) is at least [twenty-one] EIGHTEEN (18) years
of age, (3) has resided in the State of Maryland for at
least one year next preceding any town election, (4) has
resided within the corporate limits of the town for six
(6) months next preceding any town election and (5) is
registered in accordance with the provisions of this
Charter, shall be a qualified voter of the town. Every
qualified voter of the town shall be entitled to vote at
any or all town elections.

SECTION 2. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Charter
Amendment shall become and be considered a part of the
Municipal Charter in all respects to be effective and
observed as such, upon the fiftieth day after the date of
adoption, unless on or before the fortieth day thereafter
there shall be presented to the Mayor and Council of The
Town of Onion Bridge, or mailed to it, a petition for
referendum in accordance with the provisions of Section
13 (g) of Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a
complete and exact copy of this Resolution shall be
posted in the municipal offices of The Town of Onion
Bridge or some public place for a period of at least
forty days following its adoption and further that this
Resolution shall be published in a newspaper of general
circulation in The Town of Onion Bridge for not less than
four times, at weekly intervals, within a period of forty
days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that as soon
as the Charter Amendment hereby adopted shall become
affective the Mayor of The Town of Onion Bridge shall
