ORDINANCE NO. 96
INTRODUCED March 30, 1973

AN ORDINANCE entitled "Registration of Voters-General
Provisions" to provide the qualifications of voters
for all elections for the Town of Sykesville, and
providing that each such person must be a citizen of
the United States, at least eighteen (18) years of
age, a resided for six (6} months, not convicted of
certain crimes;, not incompetent, and registered in
accordance with the provisions of the Town Charter.

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Sykesville have
determined that it is necessary for the good government
of the Town that an Ordinance be adopted to provide for
the qualifications of voters in municipal elections in
the Town of Sykesville in order to bring the
qualifications in substantial conformity with the 20th
Amendment of the United States Constitution, the Federal
Law and the Election Code of the State of Maryland;

NOW THEREFORE, WITNESSETH:

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
SIKESVILLE that every person who

(1)    is a citizen of the United States,

(2)    is at least eighteen (18) years of age.

(3) has resided within the corporate limits of the
Town for at least six (6) months next preceding any Town
election.

(4) has not beer, convicted of larceny or infamous
crime, unless pardoned by the Governor,

(5)    is not under guardianship as a lunatic or as a
person who is non compos mentis,

(6)    has not been convicted of buying or selling
votes, and

(7)    is registered in accordance with the
provisions of this Charter, shall be a registered voter
