MUNICIPAL CHARTERS
aforesaid that a public hearing on the Resolution shall
be held by the Burgess and Commissioners of Middletown on
Monday evening, January 8, 1973 at 8:00 P.M. in the Fire
Hall on South Church Street, Middletown, Maryland.
At the regular meeting of the Burgess and
Commissioners of Middletown, a municipal corporation of
the State of Maryland, held in Middletown, Maryland, on
the 11th day of June 1973, the following resolution was
duly introduced:
WHEREAS, a Petition for the enlargement of the
corporate boundaries of the Burgess and Commissioners of
Middletown in the hereinafter described area has been
initiated in writing from not less than 25% of the
persons who reside in the area to be annexed and who are
registered as voters in the county elections in Frederick
County, Maryland, and from the owners of not less than
25% of the assessed valuation of the real property
located in the area to be annexed and the signatures
thereto and all other matters contained in said Petition
have been duly verified, such Petition being on file
among the records of said municipal corporation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That pursuant to
the authority of Article 11E of the Constitution of
Maryland, and Section 19 of Article 23A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland, 1957, (1966 Replacement volume), the
boundaries of the Burgess and Commissioners of
Middletown, a municipal corporation of the State of
Maryland, be and they are hereby enlarged by the
annexation of the following described area:
BEGINNING AT THE END OF 648.55 FEET ON THE NORTH 71°
42' 10" WEST 2800.84 FEET LINE OF THE PRESENT CORPORATE
LIMITS OF MIDDLETOWN, MARYLAND AND AT A POINT ON THE
EIGHTH LINE DESCRIBED IN A DEED FROM CHARLES W. COBLENTZ,
ET AL, TO THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF FREDERICK COUNTY
DATED DECEMBER 20, 1967 AND RECORDED IN LIBER 777, FOLIO
321, AND FUNNING BY AND WITH THE LINES OF SAID PRESENT
CORPORATE LIMITS REVERSED TWO COURSES AND DISTANCES;
SOUTH 71° 42' 10" EAST 648.55 FEET TO A POINT; THENCE
SOUTH 58° 23' EAST 826.10 FEET TO A POINT ON THE FIFTH
LINE DESCRIBED IN A DEED FROM JOHN ROUTZAHN AND WIFE TO
THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF FREDERICK COUNTY DATED JANUARY
19, 1949 AND RECORDED IN LIBER 477, FOLIO 292; THENCE BY
AND WITH THE LINES OF SAID DEED TWO COURSES AND
DISTANCES, AND BY PROPOSED NEW CORPORATE BOUNDARY LINES
SEVEN COURSES AND DISTANCES; NORTH 26° 00' 49" EAST
381.05 FEET TO AN IRON PIPE; THENCE NORTH 70° 24' 53"
