MUNICIPAL CHARTERS

the same are paid or until discharged according to law;
and the Sheriff of said County shall receive and safe
keep in the public jail all persons who shall he
committed thereto for a breach of any of the laws or
ordinances of [such corporation] THE TOWN OF EMMITSBURG,
according to the tenor of commitment, and in the same
manner and under the same regulations as persons
committed for violations of the laws of this State.

RESOLUTION NO. 21

Be enacted this 2nd day of July, in the year 1973,
by the Burgess and Board of Commissioners of the Town of
Emmitsburg, Maryland, that Article IV of the Charter of
the Town of Emmitsburg is hereby amended by deleting
those portions in brackets from and adding those portions
capitalized to Section 2. Said amendment to the Charter
is to hereafter make Article IV, Section 2 to read as
follows:

Section 2. Elections Generally

All elections shall be held by ballot or voting
machine, and in such manner as shall from time to time be
directed by ordinance[, and ten days before the election
the Burgess, with the consent and approval of the
Commissioners, shall appoint two judges to]. THE
BURGESS, WITH THE CONSENT AND APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS SHALL AT LEAST FIFTEEN DAYS BEFORE THE
FIRST MONDAY OF MAY IN EACH YEAR, APPOINT THREE PERSONS
WHO SHALL BE REGISTERED AND QUALIFIED VOTERS IN
EMMITSBURG TO ACT AS JUDGES OF ELECTIONS. SUCH JUDGES
SHALL conduct the [same, who] ELECTIONS AND shall keep
the poles open from 12:00 Noon to 7:00 P.M. [which shall
be the hours for sitting for the register of voters on
the days of registration in 1910, and the day of annual
registration and revision thereafter;]. VOTERS MAY
REGISTER ON ANY BUSINESS DAY DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS
WITH THE TOWN CLERK; provided, however, that the Burgess
and the Commissioners shall have the power by ordinance
to change from time to time the hours of registration and
voting in [said] THE town.
