MUNICIPAL CHARTERS
RESOLUTION NO. 16
Be enacted this 2nd day of July, in the year 1973,
by the Burgess and Board of Commissioners of the town of
Emmitsburg, Maryland, that Article I of the Charter of
the Town of Emmitsburg is hereby amended by deleting
those portions in brackets from and adding those portions
capitalized to Section 3. Said amendment to the Charter
is to hereafter make Article I, Section 3 to read as
follows:
Section 3. Police Limits
The police limits of the Town of Emmitsburg shall be
for a distance of one mile from the boundaries of the
Town of Emmitsburg. All ordinances heretofore passed or
that may hereafter be passed by the Burgess and
Commissioners of THE TOWN OF Emmitsburg to preserve the
peace, order and quiet, health and welfare of the town,
or relating to planning and zoning, shall apply to said
police limits and to all persons therein. The [Trial
Magistrates in] JUDGES FOR THE DISTRICT COURT OF
Frederick County shall have the power to apprehend and
try any and all persons violating any of the provisions
of said ordinances within the police limits of the town,
and to enforce the fine, penalties, and punishment
therein prescribed.
RESOLUTION NO. 17
Be enacted this 2nd day of July, in the year 1973,
by the Burgess and Board of Commissioners of the Town of
Emmitsburg, Maryland, that Article II of the Charter of
the Town of Emmitsburg is hereby amended by deleting
those portions in brackets from and adding those portions
capitalized to Section 9. Said amendment to the Charter
is to hereafter make Article II, Section 9 to read as
follows:
Section 9. Authority Over Offices, Departments and
Agencies
The Board of Commissioners by ordinance may create,
change, and abolish offices, departments, [or] agencies,
OR COMMISSIONS established OR NOT SPECIFICALLY
ESTABLISHED by this Charter. The Board of Commissioners
by ordinance may assign AND DELEGATE additional functions
