POSTMARKED BY THE DATE(S) SPECIFIED IN ARTICLE 33,
SECTION 26-11, OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND, 1971
REPLACEMENT VOLUME. IN THE EVENT A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
THUS FORFEITS HIS RIGHT TO OFFICE, THE QUALIFIED
CANDIDATE WITH THE NEXT HIGHEST NUMBER OF VOTES FOR THAT
OFFICE WILL BE DECLARED THE WINNER. THE BOARD OF
ELECTION SUPERVISORS WILL DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT ALL
QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN MET AND WILL MAKE ALL REPORTS
FILED A MATTER OF PUBLIC RECORD.

A resolution to amend Article VI of the Charter of
the City of College Park, titled Voters, to add a section
12(a), titled Absentee Ballot,
WHEREAS, House Bill No. 928, enacted by the General
Assembly of Maryland, adds Section 47 to the Article 23A
of the Annotated Code of Maryland, calling for
municipalities to provide for absentee ballots,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Article VI of
the Charter of the City of College Park is hereby amended
to add a section 12(a), titled Absentee Ballot, as
follows:
SECTION 12(A), ABSENTEE BALLOT.
ANY QUALIFIED VOTER REGISTERED TO VOTE IN THE
ELECTIONS OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE PARK IS ENTITLED TO VOTE
BY ABSENTEE BALLOT; THE PROCEDURES AND PROVISIONS OF
ARTICLE 33, SECTIONS 27-1, 27-2, AND 27-4 THROUGH 27-11
OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND, 1971 REPLACEMENT
VOLUME, 1972 CUMULATIVE SUPPLEMENT, ARE HEREBY
INCORPORATED, WITH THE EXCEPTION THAT THOSE TERMS
REFERRING TO "BALTIMORE CITY" OR "COUNTY" OR "STATE" OR
AN AGENCY BOARD OR DEPARTMENT THEREOF SHALL BE CONSTRUED
TO REFER TO THE CITY OF COLLEGE PARK OR ITS COUNTERPART
AGENCY, BOARD OR DEPARTMENT, AS THE CASE MAY BE.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF COLLEGE PARK, MARYLAND, the aforegoing
proposed amendment shall be posted at the Municipal
Building, 4500 Knox Road, College Park, Maryland for a
period of at least forty days following its adoption and
shall further be published in the Prince George's Post
