MUNICIPAL CHARTERS
CAMBRIDGE that the Charter of said municipal corporation
be, and the same is hereby amended by repealing and
re-enacting, with amendments, Subsection (d) entitled
"Assistants", Subsection (g) entitled "Powers" and
Subsection (h) entitled "Candidate" of Section 32
entitled "Registration for elections" to read as follows:
32. Registration for elections.
(d) Assistants. The Supervisor of Elections shall
have authority and is empowered to name two or more
employees of the City of Cambridge as registrars and also
to designate such registration days as deemed necessary,
and in addition thereto the Supervisor of Elections shall
have authority and is empowered to appoint, subject to
the approval of the Commissioners of Cambridge, as
officers of registration several assistants not to exceed
one for each ward to conduct any registration, each
assistant to be paid [the sum of $12 per day] A DAILY SUM
AS MAY BE FROM TIME TO TIME DETERMINED BY THE
COMMISSIONERS and all officers of registration referred
to in this Section, when qualifying, to be subject to and
to comply with the same provisions of law as do clerks
and judges of elections as hereinafter set forth in
Section 36.
(g) Powers. Such officers of registration and the
Supervisor of Elections, when sitting as an officer of
registration shall have, during the appointed time of
their respective sittings in addition to the duties and
authority hereinbefore given them, such powers as are
conferred on officers of registration by [Section 161 of]
Article 33 and amendments thereto of the Code of General
Laws of Maryland.
(h) Candidate. Each candidate at any election
held under any of the provisions of the Charter of
Cambridge or any amendments thereto, shall have the right
to enter the place of registration or the polling place
for [his] ANY ward at any time during the days appointed
for registration of voters or during the voting and the
counting of the votes. Each candidate shall also have
the right to designate one watcher FOR EACH POLLING PLACE
who shall have the same power as the candidate himself in
regard to observing the conduct of the registration, the
casting and counting of the vote. Unless there are more
than two candidates for nomination for Commissioners of
Cambridge in any ward no primary election shall be held
and the one candidate or two, as the case may be, shall
stand as the candidate or candidates to be voted for at
the following election or special election for
Commissioner of Cambridge.
SECTION 2. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this
