A Senate Joint Resolution concerning

Officer George Ramsburg

FOR the purpose of authorizing the Board of Public Works
under certain conditions to pay to the estate or
beneficiaries of Officer George Ramsburg the same
benefits to which his estate or beneficiaries would
have been entitled had he been a member in service
of the State Employees' Retirement System with one
year credible service at the time of his death.

WHEREAS, On February 22, 1974, Officer George
Ramsburg, 6577 Route 29, Simpsonville, Maryland 21046, a
member of the Airport Police Force of the State Aviation
Administration of the Maryland Department of
Transportation, was killed while in the performance of
his official duties during an attempted hijacking at
Baltimore—Washington International Airport; and

WHEREAS, It appears that there may be no death
benefits payable to the estate or the beneficiaries of
Officer Ramsburg, who was a member of the Baltimore City
Police Retirement System, pursuant to the Maryland State
Employees' Retirement System, the Baltimore City Police
Department Death Relief Fund, or the said Baltimore City
Police Retirement System; and

WHEREAS, The estate or beneficiaries of Officer
Ramsburg are entitled to seme compensation for the tragic
loss of his life which occurred while in the performance
of his official duties; new, therefore, be it

RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the Board of Public Works is authorized to pay to the
