(b)    No person shall operate a bicycle unless it is
equipped with a bell or other device capable of giving a
signal audible for a distance of at least 100 feet,
except that a bicycle shall not be equipped with nor
shall any person use upon a bicycle any siren or whistle.

(c)    Every bicycle shall be equipped with a brake
which will enable the operator to make the braked wheels
skid on dry, level, clean pavement. ]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Sections
1-104, 11-1103 and 11-1403 of Article 66-1/2 - Vehicle
Laws, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 Replacement
Volume and 1973 Supplement) be and they are hereby
repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

Article 66—1/2 — Vehicle Laws
1-104.

[Bicycle means every device propelled by human power
upon which any person may ride, having two tandem wheels
either of which is more than 14 inches in diameter.]

BICYCLE MEANS EVERY DEVICE PROPELLED EXCLUSIVELY BY
HUMAN POWER UPON WHICH ONE OR MOPE PEOPLE MAY RIDE,
HAVING TWO OR MORE TANDEM WHEELS, ONE OF WHICH IS 14
INCHES OR GREATER IN DIAMETER.

11-1103.

No person [shall] MAY drive any vehicle upon a
sidewalk or sidewalk area except upon a permanent or duly
authorized temporary driveway, AND EXCEPT AS PROVIDED
ELSEWHERE IN THIS ARTICLE WITH REGARD TO BICYCLES.

11-1403.

(A)    EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN SUBSECTION (B),
[Pedestrians] PEDESTRIANS and bicycles are prohibited
from using the vehicular crossings.

(B)    UNLESS THE SUPERINTENDENT PROVIDES REASONABLE
MEANS FOR TRANSPORTING AN OPERATOR AND HIS BICYCLE ACROSS
THE CHESAPEAKE SAY TOLL BRIDGE, A BICYCLIST MAY USE THE
BRIDGE AND ITS APPROACHES DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS IF THE
OPERATOR HAS A VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE ISSUED PURSUANT TO
SUBTITLE 6 OF THIS ARTICLE.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That new
Section 11—1121 be and it is hereby added to Article
66-1/2 - Vehicle Laws, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
