(6)   Equipped with no openings except for entrance
and ventilation; and

(7)   Kept locked securely when unattended.

(b) Every surface magazine for storing black
blasting powder, detonators, and cardox heater elements
need not be bulletproof, but shall comply with other
provisions for storing high explosives. High explosives,
black blasting powder, or cardox heater elements in
amounts of 125 pounds or less, or 5,000 detonators or
less, shall be stored in accordance with preceding
standards or in a separate box—type magazine. A box—type
magazine also may be used as a distributing magazine when
quantities do not exceed those mentioned. A box—type
magazine shall be constructed of [two] 2 inch hardwood or
it equivalent. Each metal magazine shall be lined with
nonsparking material. No magazine may be placed in a
building containing oil, grease, gasoline, waste paper,
or other highly flammable material, nor may it be placed
less than 20 feet from a stove, furnace, open fire, or
flame.

(d) The supply kept in any distributing magazine
shall be limited to approximately one day's requirement.
The supply of explosives and detonators may be
distributed from the same magazine, if separated by at
least a [six] 6 inch fastened hardwood partition or its
equivalent.

(j) (1) Individual containers.—Permissible
explosives or detonators carried underground shall be in
an individual container constructed of substantial
nonconductive material, maintained in good condition, and
kept closed.

(2) Special cars and containers.—When explosives
or detonators are transported underground by locomotive,
rope, or shuttle car, they shall be in a special covered
car or in a special, container. The body and cover of
each special car and container shall be constructed of
nonconductive material. If explosives and detonators are
hauled in the same car or same special container, they
shall be separated by at least a [four] 4 inch
substantially fastened hardwood partition or its
equivalent. Permissible explosives, detonators, and
cardox shells may not be carried on the same trip with
workers. Where a quantity of explosives and detonators
is transported in a special car or special container it
shall be hauled on a special trip, not connected with any
other trip. It may not be hauled into or out of a mine
within five minutes preceding or following any other
trip.
