institutions and places of confinement in the state under
the sentence or order of any authority. The County
Council shall not pay the Sheriff additional compensation
for any service he renders in discharging his official
duties. The County Council is not liable for any other
fee or compensation to the sheriff except for the board
and keeping of prisoners in the county jail.

(4)     The County Council shall levy each year
sufficient funds to pay the salaries and expenses of the
Sheriff's office.

(5)   All deputies, except the chief deputy; clerical
assistant; matron; cook and other employees employed are
subject to the '"personnel provisions" of the charter of
Wicomico County and the rules and regulations passed by
the County Council pursuant thereto. If a deputy subject
to the personnel provisions is promoted to chief deputy,
then [upon] ON his removal from the office of chief
deputy for other than cause, he shall revert to a deputy
with the same status which he had prior to his
appointment as chief deputy. A chief deputy who is not a
deputy subject to the personnel provisions prior to his
appointment as chief deputy, if removed from office for
any reason shall not automatically revert to a deputy.

(c) Provide for a master jury wheel or a device
similar in purpose and function such as a properly
programmed electronic data processing system or device
into which the names of those selected at random shall be
placed. The plan shall specify a minimum number of names
to be placed initially in the master jury wheel, which
shall be at least [one half of one] 0.50 percent of the
total number of persons on the lists used as sources of
names for the county; but if this number of names is
cumbersome and unnecessary, or inadequate, the plan may
fix a smaller or larger number of names to be placed in
the master wheel. In all cases the number shall be at
least 200. The jury judge may order additional names,
selected at random, to be placed in the master jury wheel
as he considers necessary. The plan shall provide for
periodic emptying and refilling of the master jury wheel
at specified times and shall assure that this periodic
refilling places in the master jury wheel names from
voter registration lists used in the general election
preceding the time of refilling;

(c) (1) Allegany County—-a witness is allowed
[eight] 8 cents per mile for each mile over five he
resides from the court. This amount is allowed only once
in one terra.
