Somerset County being Article 20 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1963 Edition and 1967 Supplement)
be and it is hereby repealed and re—enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
Article 20
307.
(A) The County Roads Board [is hereby authorized
and empowered to] MAY borrow from time to time such sums
of money as it may deem necessary to carry out its duties
under this subheading, but not to exceed [one hundred
seventy-five thousand dollars (] $175,000[.00)] in the
aggregate at any one time [, and to].
(B) THE COUNTY BOARD, FROM TIME TO TIME MAY BORROW
ADDITIONAL SUMS OF MONEY, NOT TO EXCEED $150,000 IN THE
AGGREGATE AT ANY ONE TIME, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PURCHASING
LAND AND IMPROVEMENTS WHICH THE COUNTY ROADS BOARD DEEMS
NECESSARY TO CARRY OUT ITS DUTIES.
(C) THE COUNTY ROADS BOARD MAY issue its notes or
certificates of indebtedness as evidence of [said] THE
loan [or loans. Said money, when]. ANY MONEY borrowed[, ]
shall be paid into and out of and accounted for along
with other regular road funds.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and
necessary for the immediate preservation of the public
health and safety and having been passed by a yea and nay
vote supported by three—fifths of all the members elected
to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the
sane shall take effect from the date of its passage.
