FOR the purpose of correcting certain erroneous language
which fails to distinguish between civilian and
police employees of the Maryland State Police;
providing that police employees of the Maryland
State Police receive such salaries as provided in
the State budget; requiring the Superintendent of
the Maryland State Police[[to develop]] and the
Secretary of Public Safety and Correctional Services
to propose a salary plan for inclusion in the budget
upon approval of the [[Secretary of Public Safety
and Correctional Services]] Secretary of Personnel;
and relating generally to salaries of police
employees of the Maryland State Police.

Section 22 (a) and 23
Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 22(a) and 23 of Article 88B -
State Police, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969
Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement) be and they are
hereby repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

22.
(a) From and after July 1, [1973] 1974, all POLICE
employees of the Maryland State Police[, including police
employees, ] shall receive such salary, including any
increment based upon length of service, [as is provided
in § 23 of this article] AS SET FORTH IN A SALARY PLAN
[[ADOPTED BY THE SUPERINTENDENT OF THE MARYLAND STATE
POLICE AND APPROVED BY THE SECRETARY OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND
CORRECTIONAL SERVICES]] PROPOSED BY THE SUPERINTENDENT OF
MARYLAND STATE POLICE AND THE SECRETARY OF PUBLIC SAFETY
AND CORRECTIONAL SERVICES AND APPROVED BY THE SECRETARY
OF PERSONNEL, AND PROVIDED IN THE STATE BUDGET.
23.
[(a) Salaries as referred to in § 22 (a) shall be
paid to police employees in accordance with rank and
length of service at the following rates:
