SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 6-106.1 be and it is hereby
added to Article 66-1/2 - Vehicle Laws, of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume and 1973
Supplement) to read as follows:

6-106.1

Article 66-1/2 - Vehicle Laws

(A)    THE ADMINISTRATION SHALL PROVIDE A METHOD
PERMITTING A PERSON MAKING APPLICATION FOR A LICENSE OR
IDENTIFICATION CARD, OR RENEWAL THEREOF, TO DESIGNATE

THAT HE OR SHE, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE

ANATOMICAL GIFT ACT OF THE ANNOTATED CODE, IS A DONOR OF
ALL BODY ORGANS OR PARTS FOR THE PURPOSES OF
TRANSPLANTATION, THERAPY, MEDICAL RESEARCH OR EDUCATION
UPON HIS OR HER DEATH.

(B)    UPON SUCH DESIGNATION, THE ADMINISTRATION MAY
MAKE A SUITABLE NOTATION UPON THE LICENSE OR
IDENTIFICATION CARD INDICATING THAT THE PERSON IS A
DONOR.

(C)    THE DESIGNATION SHALL CONSTITUTE SUFFICIENT
LEGAL AUTHORITY FOR THE REMOVAL OF A BODY ORGAN OR PART
UPON THE PERSON'S DEATH AND THE DESIGNATION SHALL BE
REMOVED ONLY UPON [[30 DAYS]] WRITTEN NOTICE TO THE
ADMINISTRATION BY THE DONOR.

(D) AT THE TIME THE PROSPECTIVE DONOR AUTHORIZES

THE DESIGNATION TO APPEAR ON HIS LICENSE, HE SHALL BE

NOTIFIED THAT THE DESIGNATION CAN BE REMOVED ONLY UPON
WRITTEN NOTICE TO THE ADMINISTRATION.

[[(D)]] (E) FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS SECTION,
LICENSE SHALL NOT INCLUDE ANY TEMPORARY LICENSE OR
INSTRUCTION AND EXAMINATION LICENSE.

[[(E)]] (F) NO DESIGNATION MAY BE NOTED UPON THE
LICENSE OR SPECIAL IDENTIFICATION CARD OF ANY PERSON
UNDER THE AGE OF 18 YEARS.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1974.
