Dependents' allowances shall be regarded as benefits for
the purpose of computing contribution rates under the
terms of § 8 (c) of this article.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1974.

AN ACT concerning

Merit System - Baltimore City Department
of Social Services

FOR the purpose of transferring the director and
employees of the Baltimore City Department of Social
Services to the State Merit System and the State
Employees' Retirement System; providing for such
director's and employees' merit system status,
retirement system contributions, salaries and
rights; providing for the manner of appointing
directors of the local departments of social
services; reducing the maximum local contribution
for certain public assistance programs, and relating
generally to the administration and financing of
public assistance programs.

BY adding to

Section 24B and 24C

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1972 Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement)

BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments.
