[9.] 11. "Potable water" means water free from
impurities in amounts sufficient to cause disease or
harmful physiological effects with the bacteriological
and chemical quality conforming to applicable standards
of the Department,

[10.] 12. "Subdivision" means the division of a
single tract, tracts or other parcels of land, or a part
thereof, into two or more lots, for the purpose, whether
immediate or future, of sale or of building development,
and shall also include changes in street lines or lot
lines, provided, however, that divisions of land for
agriculture purposes into parcels of more than 3 acres,
not involving any new street or easement of access, shall
not be included within the meaning of "subdivision."

[11.] 13. [Approving] "[[ADOPTING]] APPROVING
authority" means one or more officials, agents, or
agencies of local government designated by the local
governing body or specified by other provisions of this
section to take certain actions as a part of implementing
this section.

[[14. "APPROVING AUTHORITY" MEANS THE SECRETARY OF
HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE OR HIS DISIGNEE.]]

[12.] [[15]] 14. "Solid wastes" means litter and
all refuse materials, other than gaseous and liquid
wastes, from all public and private establishments and
residences, including shopping centers.

[13.] [[16]] 15. "Solid waste disposal system"
means any system, whether publicly or privately owned,
which provides scheduled or systematic collection of
solid wastes and their transportation to and treatment or
other disposition at a solid waste acceptance facility.
A solid waste disposal system includes all solid waste
acceptance facilities used in connection with the system.

[14.] [[17]] 16. "Solid waste acceptance facility"
means any sanitary landfill, incinerator, transfer
station or any other type plant the primary purpose of
which is for the disposal, treatment or processing of
solid wastes.

[15.] [[18]] 17. "Litter" means all rubbish, waste
material, refuse, garbage, trash, debris, dead animals or
other discarded materials of any kind and description.

subsidiary plans of the towns, municipal corporations.
