Landlord and Tenant — Leases

FOR the purpose of providing for certain protection for
tenants in their negotiation of leases with
landlords, for certain exceptions, and relating
generally to leases of certain residential property.

(As enacted by chapter ___ (S.B. 200) of the

1974 Regular Session of the General Assembly)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 8-203.1 be and it is hereby
added to Article; — Real Property, of the Annotated Code

of Maryland (As; enacted by Chapter___(S.B. 200) of the

1974 Regular Session of the General Assembly) to read as
follows:

3-203.1.

(A) AFTER [[JULY 1, 1974]] JANUARY 1, 1975, ANY
LANDLORD WHO OFFERS MORE THAN [[12]] 4 DWELLING UNITS FOR
RENT ON ONE PARCEL OF PROPERTY OR AT ONE LOCATION AND WHO
RENTS BY MEANS OF WRITTEN LEASES, SHALL:

(1) PROVIDE, UPON WRITTEN REQUEST FROM ANY
PROSPECTIVE APPLICANT FOR A LEASE, A COPY OF THE PROPOSED
FORM OF LEASE IN WRITING, COMPLETE IN EVERY MATERIAL
DETAIL, EXCEPT FOR THE DATE, THE NAME AND ADDRESS OF THE
TENANT, THE DESIGNATION OF THE PREMISES, AND THE RENTAL
RATE, WITHOUT REQUIRING EXECUTION OF THE LEASE OR ANY
PRIOR DEPOSIT; AND
