AM ACT concerning
State Board of Dental Examiners — [[Associate]] Dental
Hygienist Membership
FOR the purpose of adding to the State Board of Dental
Examiners [[certain]] a dental hygienist [[associate
members]] member to have a vote only on matters
directly affecting dental hygienists, and generally
relating thereto.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 2A be and it is hereby added
to Article 32 — [[Denistry]] Dentistry, of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and 1973
Supplement) to read as follows:

2A.
IN ADDITION TO THE DENTIST [[REGULAR]] MEMBERS OF
THE BOARD THERE SHALL BE A DENTAL HYGIENIST [[ASSOCIATE
MEMBERS]] MEMBER WHO MAY VOTE ONLY ON MATTERS DIRECTLY
AFFECTING DENTAL HYGIENISTS. IN [[THE]] THOSE HATTERS
[[THEIR]] HIS VOTE SHALL COUNT AS FULLY AS THE VOTE OF
DENTIST [[REGULAR]] MEMBERS. THE [[ASSOCIATE MEMBERS]]
DENTAL HYGIENIST MEMBER SHALL BE [[THREE]] A REGISTERED
AND PRACTICING [[HYGIENISTS, RESIDENTS]] HYGIENIST. A
RESIDENT OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND, [[EACH OF WHOM]] AND
SHALL HAVE BEEN IN AN ACTIVE PRACTICE IN THE STATE FOR AT
LEAST THREE YEARS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING HIS APPOINTMENT.
NO MEMBER OF THE [[FAUCLTY]] FACULTY OR TEACHING STAFF OR
ANY UNIVERSITY OR COLLEGE IN THE STATE OF MARYLAND WHICH
OFFERS UNDERGRADUATE COURSES IN DENTAL HYGIENE SHALL BE
ELIGIBLE FOR APPOINTMENT. THE GOVERNOR, WITH THE ADVICE
OF THE SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE, SHALL
