SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 16 of Article 59 - Mental Hygiene,
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Replacement
Volume and 1973 Supplement} be and it is hereby repealed
and re—enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
Article 59 — Mental Hygiene
16.
Upon the application of any authorized
representative of the Division of Correction OR OF THE
PATUXENT INSTITUTION, and payment of appropriate expenses
by the Department, any person confined in [a penal] AN
institution under the jurisdiction, RESPECTIVELY, of the
Division of Correction OR THE PATUXENT INSTITUTION may be
admitted to a facility in accordance with § 12. The
Commissioner may designate the appropriate facility for
admission. Any release by a facility prior to the
expiration of the [penal] term being served by the
patient shall be made to the custody of the Division of
Correction OR THE PATUXENT INSTITUTION, AS THE CASE MAY
BE. Upon admission to a facility, the patient shall be
entitled to all rights and subject to all obligations
afforded other involuntarily admitted patients by this
subtitle. Periods of confinement in the facilities shall
be considered in diminishing total confinement pursuant
to Article 27, subtitle: "Division of Correction,"
subheading: "Prisoners."
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1974.

Income Tax - Collection Attorneys
FOR the purpose of authorizing qualified attorneys who
are regular salaried employees of the Comptroller's
Office to institute and pursue proceedings to
collect income taxes due.
BY repealing and re-enacting, with amendments.
