AN ACT concerning
Maryland Bicentennial Commission — Membership
FOR the purpose of increasing the membership of the
Bicentennial Commission.
BY repealing and re-enacting, with amendments,
Chapter 458 of the Laws of Maryland
of 1968, as amended by Chapter 414 of the Laws of
Maryland of 1970.
Section 1
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 1 of Chapter 458 of the Laws of
Maryland of 1968, as amended by Chapter 414 of the Laws
of Maryland of 1970, be and it is hereby repealed and
re—enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

(A) There is hereby created the Maryland
Bicentennial Commission for the commemoration of the
American Revolution, hereinafter referred to as the
"Commission." The Commission shall be composed of
fifteen members who shall be appointed by the Governor
and serve at his pleasure. Vacancies shall be filled in
the same manner as the original appointments. Of the
initial appointment of the fifteen members, three shall
be appointed for a term of one year, three shall be
appointed for a term of two years, three shall be
appointed for a term of three years, three shall be
appointed for a term of four years, and three shall be
appointed for a term of five years. As these initial
terms expire, all members may be appointed for terms of
five years each. A member may be re—appointed to a
successive term or terms.
(B) EFFECTIVE JUNE 1, 1974, SIX ADDITIONAL
MEMBERS TO THE MARYLAND BICENTENNIAL COMMISSION SHALL BE
APPOINTED BY THE GOVERNOR, TO SERVE AT HIS PLEASURE.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect June 1, 1974.
