VETOED BILLS
Annapolis, Maryland, June 1, 1973.
Honorable Thomas Hunter Lowe
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland
Dear Mr. Speaker:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17, of the Maryland Constitution,
I have today vetoed House Bill 2.
This bill amends several sections of Article 2B of the Annotated Code
of Maryland to authorize the Kent County Board of License Commis-
sioners to set the hours and days for the sale of alcoholic beverages
in Kent County.
Senate Bill 892, which was enacted by the General Assembly and
signed by me on April 10, 1973, amended some of these same sections
in order to increase the hours during which the privileges conferred by
certain classes of alcoholic beverage licenses may be exercised in Kent
County. Similarly, Senate Bill 1070, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on April 26, 1973, amended other sections
of Article 2B in order to authorize the selling of certain alcoholic bever-
ages in restaurants in Kent County during certain hours on Sunday. In
view of the enactment of these two bills, the sponsor of House Bill 2 has
requested that this bill be vetoed.
Consequently, I have decided to veto House Bill 2 at the request of
the sponsor.
Sincerely,
MARVIN MANDEL,
Governor.
