PREVENT ACCESS BY ANY UNAUTHORIZED PERSON, UNLESS THE
SWITCHBOARD IS LOCATED IN A LOCKED BUILDING.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection presently appears

as Article 66C, section 586(b) of the Code.

The phrase "installed after the effective

date of this act" is proposed for deletion

because switchboards installed prior to

1949 are no longer in operation. The only
other changes made are in style.

(C) SWITCHBOARD TO BE WELL-LIGHTED.—ANY
SWITCHBOARD SHALL BE WELL-LIGHTED FOR SWITCH
OPERATIONS IN THE FRONT AND FOR REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE
IN THE REAR.

(E) POWER CONTROLS TO HAVE INSULATION
MATERIAL.—PULL SWITCHES, CIRCUIT BREAKERS, OR OTHER
POWER CONTROLS SHALL BE MOUNTED ON SLATE OR OTHER
SUITABLE INSULATION MATERIAL.

7-435. POWER CIRCUITS.

(A) HIGH-POTENTIAL POWER CABLE.---ANY

HIGH-POTENTIAL POWER CABLE OF AT LEAST 600 VOLTS,
CARRIED FROM THE SURFACE THROUGH ANY SHAFT, BOREHOLE,
OR UNDERGROUND PASSAGEWAY SHALL BE ADEQUATE FOR THE
SERVICES INTENDED, IF IT IS INSTALLED IN A PERMANENT
MANNER AND GUARDED FROM MECHANICAL INJURY. POWER
WIRES CARRYING LESS THAN 600 VOLTS, WHETHER BARE OR
INSULATED, EXCEPT GROUND WIRES AND TRAILING CABLES,
SHALL BE SUPPORTED ON OR BY WELL-INSTALLED INSULATORS.
THE WIRES MAY NOT TOUCH COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS, ROOF,
OR RIBS.

(E) POWER WIRE TO BE INSULATED AND BURIED UNDER
CERTAIN CONDITIONS.— POWER WIRE SHALL BE INSULATED
PROPERLY WHEN PASSING THROUGH ANY DOOR OR STOPPING,
AND WHERE IT CROSSES ANY OTHER POWER CIRCUIT.
