REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 87, §37. Throughout the draft, the
following changes have teen made:
(1) Provisions specifying that the salaries
enumerated are annual salaries are proposed
for deletion as unnecessary. Subsection
(a) provides that these are annual
salaries.
(2) Provisions requiring monthly payment of
salaries are proposed for deletion since
this is required by subsection (z).
(3) Authorization for specific counties to
pay for automobiles, gas, uniforms, radios,
or other expenses is proposed for deletion,
and a blanket authorization included in
subsection (aa). However, where the
statute specifically directs payment of
such expenses, this has been retained.
(4) Specific enumeration of the duties of
deputies is proposed for deletion as
subsection (z) covers this.
(5) obsolete or transitory provisions, such
as requirements that automobiles be
furnished by a specified date,
qualifications of deputies after a specific
date, the right of deputies to elect to
remain exempt from a county's merit system
where the election had to be made prior to
a specific date, and salary provisions no
longer in effect have been either deleted
or made current.
