agricultural extension work which shall be carried on
in connection with the College of Agriculture of said
University in accordance with the terms and conditions
expressed in the act of Congress aforesaid.
The Secretary of State of the State of Maryland
is hereby directed to transmit a certified copy of
this act to the Treasurer of the United States and to
the Secretary of Agriculture of the United States.
[§58.] Assent to Purnell Act.
The assent of the State of Maryland is hereby
given to the purposes of the grant made by said act
H.R. 157 of the Second Session of the Sixty— eighth
Congress and the said University of Maryland
Agricultural Experiment Station, a department of the
University of Maryland is hereby designated as the
institution entitled to receive the moneys
appropriated for Maryland and the treasurer of said
institution is hereby designated as the proper person
to receive the said appropriations.

SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That a new
§64A be and it is hereby added to Art. 89B, Annotated
Code of Maryland (1969 Repl. Vol. as added to or
amended by any law enacted at the 1973 regular session
of the General Assembly), title "State Roads", to be
under the new subtitle "Cattle Crossings", and to read
as follows:
CATTLE CROSSINGS
64A.
(A) AT THE REQUEST OF ANY FARMER WHOSE LAND IS
DIVIDED BY A HIGHWAY, AND WHO REGULARLY DRIVES
LIVESTOCK ACROSS THE HIGHWAY, THE STATE HIGHWAY
ADMINISTRATION MAY ERECT, APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET FROM
EACH SIDE OF THE CROSSING, A SIGN GIVING NOTICE OF THE
PRESENCE OF THE CROSSING. WHEN LIVESTOCK ARE BEING
DRIVEN ACROSS THE HIGHWAY AT THE CROSSING, ANY VEHICLE
BETWEEN THE TWO SIGNS SHALL STOP UNTIL THE LIVESTOCK
HAVE CROSSED THE HIGHWAY.
