MARVIN MANDEL, Governor 1819
Art. 97, §1 of the Code.
In subsection (b) the present reference to
the "State Office of Weights and Measures" is
proposed for deletion because this office is
not statutorily created. A reference to the
office of the Secretary, consequently, is
substituted. The present reference to
removal exception for "approval" is proposed
for deletion because approval of the
standards is not always certain.
In subsection (d), the reference to "town" is
proposed for deletion for the reasons
explained in the revisor's note to §11-202.
New language is added by amendment to
indicate that the secondary standards must be
calibrated and verified as accurate in
accordance with the primary standards.
The only other changes made are in style.
SEC. 11-303. SECONDARY STANDARDS AND EQUIPMENT.
IN ADDITION TO THE STATE PRIMARY STANDARDS, THE
STATE SHALL SUPPLY SECONDARY STANDARDS AND EQUIPMENT
NECESSARY TO CARRY OUT THE PROVISIONS OF THIS TITLE.
THE SECRETARY SHALL VERITY THE SECONDARY STANDARDS
UPON THEIR INITIAL RECEIPT AND AFTERWARDS, AS OFTEN AS
NECESSARY BY COMPARISON WITH THE STATE PRIMARY
STANDARDS.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 97, §2 of the Code. The only changes
made are in style.
SEC. 11-304. CITY AND COUNTY STANDARDS AND EQUIPMENT.
THE GOVERNING BODY OF EACH CITY OR COUNTY
AUTHORIZED TO APPOINT A LOCAL INSPECTOR SHALL PROCURE
AT THE EXPENSE OF THE CITY OR COUNTY SECONDARY
STANDARDS OF WEIGHTS AND MEASURES AND ANY ADDITIONAL
EQUIPMENT TO BE USED TO ENFORCE THIS SUBTITLE AS
PRESCRIBED BY THE SECRETARY. WHEN THE SECONDARY
STANDARDS OF WEIGHT AND MEASURE REQUIRED BY THIS
SECTION ARE EXAMINED AND APPROVED BY THE SECRETARY,
THEY SHALL BE THE OFFICIAL STANDARDS FOR THE CITY OR
COUNTY.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 97, §16 of the Code, as amended by Ch.
