MARVIN MANDEL, Governor                                 1723

DISTRICT OR SUPERVISORS ARE PARTIES, SHALL REMAIN IN
FORCE AND EFFECT FOR THE PERIOD PROVIDED IN THE
CONTRACT, BUT THE COMMITTEE SHALL BE SUBSTITUTED FOR
THE DISTRICT OR SUPERVISORS AS PARTY TO THE CONTRACT.
THE COMMITTEE IS ENTITLED TO ALL BENEFITS AND SUBJECT
TO EVERY LIABILITY UNDER THE CONTRACT AND HAS THE SAME
RIGHT AND LIABILITY TO PERFORM, TO REQUIRE
PERFORMANCE, TO SUE AND BE SUED ON IT, AND TO MODIFY
OR TERMINATE ANY CONTRACT BY MUTUAL CONSENT OR
OTHERWISE, AS THE SUPERVISORS OF THE FORMER DISTRICT.
THE DISSOLUTION SHALL NOT AFFECT THE LIEN OF ANY
JUDGMENT ENTERED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF §8-310, NOR
THE PENDENCY OF ANY ACTION INSTITUTED UNDER THE
PROVISIONS OF THAT SECTION, AND THE COMMITTEE SHALL
SUCCEED TO ALL THE RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF THE
SUPERVISORS RELATING TO THE LIENS AND ACTIONS.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66C, §101 (c) and (d) of the Code. In
subsection (a), the phrase describing the
contents of the Committee certificate is
proposed for deletion because §8—405 (e)
describes the certificate. Art. 66C, §101 (e)
is proposed for deletion because its
substance appears as new language in
§8-405 (a). The only other changes made are
in style.

SEC. 8-501. SHORT TITLE.

THE FIRST FOUR SUBTITLES OF THIS TITLE MAY BE
CITED AS THE MARYLAND SOIL CONSERVATION DISTRICTS LAW.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66C, §88 of the Code. New language is
added to indicate the short title applies
only to the first four subtitles. The only
other changes made are in style.

SUBTITLE 6. DRAINAGE OF AGRICULTURAL LAND.
SEC. 8-601. POWERS AND DUTIES OF SECRETARY.

THE SECRETARY SHALL PROMOTE AND ENCOURAGE THE
DRAINAGE OF AGRICULTURAL LANDS IN THE STATE, CORRELATE
THE ACTIVITIES OF THE LOCAL DRAINAGE ORGANIZATIONS IN
THE STATE, AND COOPERATE WITH STATE AND FEDERAL
AGENCIES IN THE INTEREST OF A PERMANENT PROGRAM OF
IMPROVED DRAINAGE. THE SECRETARY HAS THE POWERS
