(E) "HERD" MEANS FIVE OR MOPE LIVESTOCK.

as Art. 66C, §469 of the Code. The only

SEC. 3-502. ATTENDANTS.

(A) PERMITTING UNATTENDED HERDS ON IMPROVED
HIGHWAYS UNLAWFUL.

NO PERSON MAY PERMIT A HERD OF LIVESTOCK UPON ANY
IMPROVED HIGHWAY OF THE STATE UNLESS THE HERD IS
ATTENDED BY COMPETENT PERSONS.

(E) TWO ATTENDANTS REQUIRED.

AT LEAST ONE ATTENDANT SHALL PRECEDE THE HERD AT
A DISTANCE OF NOT MORE THAN 100 YARDS, AND THERE SHALL
BE A DRIVER NOT MORE THAN 100 YARDS IN THE REAP OF THE
HERD.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66C, §467 of the Code. The last
clause is proposed for deletion because it
appears as new language in §3-503 and
§3—504. The present reference to "cattle,
swine, sheep" is proposed for deletion
because these animals are included within
the definition of "livestock". See
§1-101 (e). The only other changes made are
in style.

SEC. 3-503. LIGHTS.

THE FRONT AND REAR ATTENDANTS SHALL CARRY A RED
LIGHTED LANTERN FROM 30 MINUTES AFTER SUNSET UNTIL
SUNRISE TO WARN ALL PERSONS APPROACHING THE HERD SO
THAT PROPER PRECAUTION MAY BE TAKEN WITH REFERENCE TO
PASSING THE HERD.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language
derived from the last clause of Art. 66C,
§467 of the Code.

SEC. 3-504. APPLICABILITY.

THIS SUBTITLE DOES NOT APPLY TO FARMERS OR
DAIRYMEN DRIVING THEIR HERDS TO AND FROM PASTURE,
