1478 LAWS OF MARYLAND [Ch. 6
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66C, §439(c) of the Code. The only
changes made are in style.
SUBTITLE 4. IMPORTATION OF CATTLE OR SWINE.
SEC. 3-401. IMPORTATION OF CATTLE PROHIBITED UNLESS
ACCOMPANIED BY CERTIFICATE; EXCEPTION.
NO PERSON MAY IMPORT INTO THE STATE CATTLE FOR
BREEDING OR SHOW PURPOSES, UNLESS THE CATTLE ARE
ACCOMPANIED BY A CERTIFICATE FROM A CERTIFIED
INSPECTOR IN THE STATE OF ORIGIN, CERTIFYING THAT THE
CATTLE HAVE BEEN EXAMINED, TESTED AS REQUIRED BY THE
SECRETARY, AND ARE FREE FROM DISEASE. CATTLE MAY NOT
BE IMPORTED UNLESS THE SECRETARY APPROVES THE
CERTIFICATE. THIS SECTION DOES NOT APPLY TO CATTLE
BROUGHT INTO THE STATE FOR IMMEDIATE SLAUGHTER.

"cattle" refers to both dairy and beef
cattle. The only other changes made are in
style.
SEC. 3-402. EXAMINATION IN LIEU OF CERTIFICATE.
IN LIEU OF AN INSPECTION CERTIFICATE, IMPORTED
CATTLE MAY BE DETAINED AT ANY SUITABLE LOCATION IN THE
STATE NEAREST ANY STATE LINE FROM WHICH THEY ARE
SHIPPED AND EXAMINED AT THE EXPENSE OF THE OWNER.
CATTLE MAY BE SHIPPED IN QUARANTINE TO THEIR
DESTINATION IN THE STATE PURSUANT TO DEPARTMENTAL
RULES AND REGULATIONS IF THEY REMAIN IN QUARANTINE
UNTIL PROPERLY EXAMINED AT THE EXPENSE OF THE OWNER
AND RELEASED BY THE SECRETARY.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66C, §446 of the Code. The reference
