(10) INSTITUTE A LIVESTOCK PATROL ALONG
THE STATE BORDERS TO PREVENT ANY LIVESTOCK AFFECTED
WITH ANY CONTAGIOUS OR INFECTIOUS DISEASE FROM BEING
BROUGHT INTO THE STATE CONTRARY TO THE LAWS REGULATING
SHIPMENT OF LIVESTOCK INTO THE STATE.
(B) OWNER SHALL SECURE ANIMAL TO BE TESTED.
THE OWNER OR HIS AGENT SHALL SECURE THE ANIMAL TO
MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR THE SECRETARY OR HIS AGENT TO
APPLY ANY TEST.
(C) ASSISTANCE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS.
THE SECRETARY MAY ORDER ANY SHERIFF, DEPUTY
SHERIFF, OR OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER. OF THE STATE
OR OF ANY COUNTY TO PROVIDE INFORMATION OR ASSIST IN
THE EXECUTION OR ENFORCEMENT OF ANY ORDER OF THE
DEPARTMENT.
(D) COMPENSATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS.
FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF DUTIES IMPOSED BY THIS
SECTION, THE SHERIFF, DEPUTY SHERIFF, OR OTHER LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICER SHALL BE COMPENSATED ON A BASIS OF
PERFORMANCE OF SIMILAR DUTIES UNDER EXISTING LAWS.
REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) presently appears
as Art. 66C, §416 of the Code. The present
provision vesting the enumerated powers in
"the duly authorized officers or agents" of
the Secretary is proposed for deletion and
a single reference to the Secretary is
substituted. New language is added to
indicate the purpose for which the
Secretary may exercise the powers vested in
him by this section.
In paragraph (1) the reference to "city"
is proposed for deletion because this is
intended to refer to Baltimore City which
is included within the reference to county
according to Art. 1, §14 and §1-101(b) of
the Code. The present reference to
"stable" is proposed for deletion and
"location" is substituted because livestock
and poultry inhabit places other than
stables, such as barns, trucks, etc.
