THE BUSINESS OF MANUFACTURING OR IMPORTING NEW AND
UNUSED VESSELS, OR NEW AND UNUSED OUTBOARD MOTORS, FOR
THE PURPOSE OF SALE OR TRADE.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection presently appears
as Article 14B, section 1(k) of the Code,
as amended by Chapter 348, Acts of 1972.
The reference to importing is added to
close a gap in the present law and to
comply with the Federal Boat Safety Act of
1971. The deletion of the reference to
outboard motors is proposed for the reasons
set forth in the revisor's note following
subsection (c) 8-701. The only other
changes made are in style.
(G) "MOTORBOAT" MEANS ANY VESSEL EQUIPPED WITH
PROPELLING MACHINERY, WHETHER OR NOT THE MACHINERY IS
THE PRINCIPAL SOURCE OF PROPULSION.

(H) "OPERATE" MEANS TO NAVIGATE OR OTHERWISE '
USE A VESSEL.

(I) "OPERATOR" MEANS THE PERSON WHO OPERATES OR
HAS CHARGE OF THE NAVIGATION OR USE OF A VESSEL.

(J) "OWNER" MEANS A PERSON, OTHER THAN A LIEN
HOLDER, HAVING PROPERTY IN OR TITLE TO A VESSEL. THE
TERM INCLUDES A PERSON ENTITLED TO USE OR POSSESS A
VESSEL SUBJECT TO AN INTEREST IN ANOTHER PERSON,
RESERVED, OR CREATED BY AGREEMENT AND SECURING PAYMENT
OF PERFORMANCE OF AN OBLIGATION, BUT IT DOES NOT
INCLUDE A LESSEE UNDER A LEASE NOT INTENDED AS
SECURITY.
