submitted by him to the County Commissioners of Garrett- County, provided that
he shall also submit with these vouchers an affidavit sworn to by him upon
personal knowledge showing for each day of the month just passed the number of
prisoners boarded by him. The Sheriff may appoint a cook for the jail who shall
receive a salary of not less than two thousand four hundred dollars ($2,400) per
year. The Sheriff, deputies and cook shall each receive an additional allowance of
two hundred dollars ($200) per year for uniforms and cleaning.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 578A(a) of Article 27
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Supplement), title "Crimes and
Punishments," subtitle "I. Crimes and Punishments," subheading "Trespass,"
to include in the definition of "off-road vehicle" automobiles and trucks,
thereby prohibiting their use on private property without permission of the,
owner and subjecting them to the penalties of this Section.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 578A(a) of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1972 Supplement), title "Crimes and Punishments," subtitle "I. Crimes
and Punishments," subheading "Trespass," be and is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
578A.
(a) "Off-road vehicle" is defined in this section as any motorized vehicle
designed for or capable of cross-country travel on or immediately over land, water,
snow, ice, marsh, swampland or other natural terrain and includes, but is not
limited to, four-wheel-drive or low-pressure-tire vehicles, AUTOMOBILES,
TRUCKS, motorcycles and related two-wheel vehicles, amphibious machines,
ground-effect or air-cushion vehicles and snowmobiles; such terms shall not include
any boat, military, fire or law-enforcement vehicle, farm-type tractors and other
agricultural equipment used for agricultural purposes or earth-moving or
construction equipment while used for such purposes, lawn mowers, snowblowers,
garden or lawn tractors or golf carts while being used for their designed purpose.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.
